The City of Portsmouth NH is planning a Residents’ Day Community Picnic in the Park, hosted by the City Recreation Department in partnership with Prescott Park Arts Festival, on Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 11 am to 2 pm. The event is free and open to all Portsmouth residents, with live music, lawn games and food available for purchase from The Prop. Residents are encouraged to bring their own picnics (no alcoholic beverages), lawn chairs, blankets – and community spirit. The Recreation Department invites residents to “Join the fun!” and will award prizes for most creative/fun picnic set up, saying, “Don't spend money, use what you have!”
“Last year, the Portsmouth NH 400th, Inc. sponsored Great Portsmouth NH 400 Community Picnic was such a hit, we decided to try to make a community day that focuses on our residents an annual event,” said Todd Henley, Recreation Director. “Scheduled for the weekend after Labor Day, this is a sort of after-party for residents to get together to celebrate as another great summer season comes to an end and thanks to Prescott Park Arts Festival for keeping The Prop and stage open past their regular season to make this event possible.”
