New Haven Sister Cities

Global Citizen Diplomacy of 21st Century — one individual, one city at a time

Afula-Gilboa in Israel   |   Amalfi in Italy    |   Avignon in France   |   Freetown in Sierra Leone,
Hue in Vietnam   |   León in Nicaragua    |   Tetlanohcan in Mexico

New Haven Sister Cities (NHSC) has teamed up again with the International Festival of Arts and Ideas to offer this family-fun event on Sunday, June 12, 2011. This bike ride combines health and fitness with cultural awareness and education. We guide cycling enthusiasts around New Haven and give them a snapshot into our seven sister cities. Participants will meet at the New Haven Green and register for the 2pm tour and then they will be off to see Tetlanohcan, Mexico at Claire’s. From there, the riders will head to the continent of Africa, where they will stop in Freetown, Sierra Leone at the Amistad Statue. The cyclists will then ride to Wooster Square where they will savor a taste of Amalfi, Italy. They will learn about Afula-Gilboa, Israel at State Street Restaurant and visit Leon, Nicaragua at Worthington Hooker School. The last stop, at Livingston Street, will be a double treat as riders will travel from Avignon, France to Hue, Vietnam. We are expecting a good number of cyclists and hoping for a beautiful day. The bike tour is on - rain or shine. Be sure to bring your family and friends and remember your helmets!
