Catch Basins & Fire Hydrants

Winter Community Participation

While crews are consistently on the streets managing winter cleanup operations, the City has over 3,000 catch basins and almost 2,000 hydrants that require regular maintenance. Very quickly leaves, snow, debris, and litter can block catch basins and stop rainwater from properly draining, and quick temperature drops and snowfall can leave a hydrant buried in frozen snow. If you're looking to participate in keeping the community safe and healthy over the winter months, be mindful of nearby catch basins and fire hydrants that may be in need of clearing (see maps below).

When you volunteer to keep a catch basin clear, you help: protect public and private property from flooding; protect water quality by keeping debris from flowing into our rivers and streams; and perhaps provide a fun, easy way to involve your family in giving back to the community.

When you volunteer to keep fire hydrant areas clear, you can save valuable time for firefighters who may need access to combat fires.

If you see other non-emergency issues, please report it through our Click N' Fix app.
